Manchester United's all-time leading goalscorer Wayne Rooney has retired from professional football, at the age of 35. Wayne has been appointed full-time manager of Championship side Derby County, a job he had been doing on an interim basis since the departure of Phillip Cocu in November.

On 15 January 2021, he retired from playing after being appointed permanent manager of Derby.

Rooney, who has since gone into management and is currently head coach of Plymouth Argyle, was one of a number of former stars who pulled on their boots for the match pitting United's legends against Celtic's in aid of the MU Foundation.
