WHAT IS PH?
pH stands for “Potential Hydrogen” it measures the acidity or alkalinity of a solution
A pHof 7 is considered neutral, a pH above 7 is alkaline, below 7 is acidic

Effect of pH on the human body
The human body contains both acids and bases. The body maintains the pH of blood between 7.35 and 7.45. The pH level of the urine varies, so Doctors often measure urine pH to evaluate the pH level of the body. Low urine pH has been associated with Metabolic Syndrome, the symptoms of which are:

Insulin resistance

Kidney stones
ACIDITY IN THE BODY
The tissues and tissues of the body have varied pH levels, some are alkaline, and others are acidic. Some studies point to a link between acidity in the body and health problems. The body regulates the pH of blood in a steady range of 7.35 – 7.45, if blood pH gets too low, the body has three ways to raise it: Breath – Excess acidity can be exhaled in the form of carbon dioxide

What is Acidic Water?
Acidic water has a pH of below 7. Acidic water is used externally, for hair and skin rather than consumed. Strong acidic water can be used to sanitize kitchen counters, cutting boards, and other surfaces. Acidic water (often referred to as electrolyzed water) is water with a potential hydrogen (pH) of less than 7. pH refers to the amount of hydrogen mixed in with the water. pH is measured on a scale from 0 to 14; 7 represents “neutral,” where the water is neither alkaline nor acidic; 0 through 7 indicates acidity; and 7 through 14 indicates alkalinity.
Signs of acidic water include:
Blue stains on copper fixtures or pipes
Blue or green stains in tubs or basins
pH test showing less than 7 is considered acidic
A sharp or chlorine smell at the tap
Private water sources that have a pH level of less than 5.5 may corrode plumbing and appliances. The EPA mandates the pH of tap water to be a pH of at least 6.5 to prevent corrosion. Like the Richter scale for measuring earthquake intensity, the pH scale is logarithmic. A solution with a pH of 8.0 is ten times more alkaline than a solution with a pH of 7.0. A solution with a pH of 9.0 is 100 times more alkaline than a solution with a pH of 7.0.

Good, Clean Water Biostone Filter: This standard filter that comes with Aquaplus water filters is highly effective at cleaning contaminants but still leaving beneficial alkaline minerals. A certified metal scan before and after filtration through the Biostone filter clearly shows highly effective filtration of these substances.
Reverse osmosis systems do a great job of cleaning or purifying water, however they lack the overall qualities of live alkaline and ionized water. When water becomes too contaminated then an RO system would be the system of choice especially for larger home applications. An alternative is an under sink installation of our RO system that has a pre-filter for adding essential alkaline mineral back to the pure water and has been specifically designed for use with Aquaplus water filters.
pH Levels: Acidic water might be good for your skin but not desirable to drink. Alkaline water helps to balance the body out incrementally by providing beneficial anions and alkaline minerals such as calcium and magnesium which need to be assimilated into our bodies. This assimilation in turn gives the body the essential alkaline minerals necessary for releasing appropriate amount of buffering bicarbonates to neutralize excess acid and further benefits of absorbed anions..
Not only do Aquaplus water filters produce a good range of alkaline water but in conjunction with the other qualities they give the alkaline water a synergistic effect. Alkaline minerals also are a buffer in the duodenum and small intestine naturally produced as a bicarbonate by the body.
Minerals Most water naturally has minerals in it and sometimes there is a healthy balance of them and other times more often than not, there’s too much of the wrong stuff. Aquaplus Antioxidant Fresh Water is made with the right mix of minerals for optimum benefits.
Micro-clustering Essentially micro-clustering refers to smaller groups of water molecules rather than a typical arrangement of 10 to 13 water molecules in a water cluster. The Aquaplus process reduces the cluster to about half the size – about 5 or 6 in a cluster. This is significant because of better and quicker absorption, and the fact that our cells take in one molecule of water at a time.
There are conduits into a cell that are known as aquaporins, and their discovery led to a Nobel Peace prize in chemistry. Importantly, the significance of water that has a smaller cluster size begins in the duodenum and small intestine, where most of water and nutrient absorption occurs. The Aquaplus water smaller cluster size allows nutrients to better flow through and to assimilate easier.
Oxidation Reduction Potential
Also known as redox potential or ORP and refers to the ability to acquire electrons and be reduced. For example a positively charged anion or ion can be reduced by acquiring electrons from a negatively charged anion.
This reduction potential can be measured in millivolt units and strong ionized water can have a -815mV ORP and is a powerful antioxidant because of the action of donating electrons to free radicals and thereby neutralizing them. This negative ORP is what makes Aquaplus water and antioxidant in nature, reducing potential cell damage and destroying free radicals.
Summary Aquaplus water can be considered living water because it provides the greatest potential benefit to our health and wellbeing! Water is vital to our health and when we are drinking water with the combined alkaline and antioxidant qualities it stands to reason that our health and well being would be optimized.
METABOLIC SYNDROME AND ACIDITY IN THE BODY

ALKALINE WATER VS. PLAIN WATER FOR HYDRATION
Alkaline water has lower surface tension than regular water. Lower surface tension makes water easier to absorb via cellular osmosis. A Montana State University study on water made alkaline with a supplement showed that the alkaline water hydrated 17% better than plain water.
Another reason that alkaline water hydrates better than plain water is that one of the primary channels in your cells that allow water to enter – called Aquaporins – is controlled by pH! Water with an alkaline pH is allowed to pass but acidic water is not. The discovery of Aquaporins in 1992 by researcher Peter Agre led to his receiving the Nobel Prize in 2003.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I’M DEHYDRATED?
Try this simple hydration test: Lay your hand flat on the table. Pinch the skin together about one inch behind a knuckle on your hand. Your skin should spring back into place in about a second. If it takes a longer time to spring back, you are dehydrated.
Two Kinds of dehydration :
Temporary dehydration – You can become temporarily dehydrated when you work out if you don’t drink enough water. This kind of dehydration makes you feel thirsty.
Chronic Dehydration – When you don’t drink enough water on a regular basis, your body can remain in a dehydrated state. Chronic dehydration can lead to poor health.Warning: You can be chronically dehydrated and not feel thirsty!
USES OF ACIDIC WATER

WHAT IS ALKALINE WATER?

Alkaline water is water with a pH of greater than 7. In nature, water gets alkalinity from the minerals it absorbs. The most common minerals found in alkaline water are calcium, magnesium and potassium. These minerals are commonly found in tap water as mineral carbonates such as calcium carbonates and magnesium carbonates. Tap water rich in mineral carbonates is considered to be hard water.
Did you know? Hard water with it’s mineral carbonates can also be alkaline water if it has a pH of greater than 7. But it’s not the same kind of alkaline water that you get from an Aquaplus water filter or Aquaplus Antioxidant Fresh water!
Aquaplus water filters make tap water more alkaline by separating the minerals from the carbonates. Once freed of the carbonates, the minerals chemically combine with hydroxyl ions taken from water molecules – to form mineral hydroxides.
